Hi there just got a secondhand BB and my sim wouldnt work so thought it was locked so purchased a unlock code, just come to enter it and on the personalisation list everything is disabled unlike the instructions which have the network as active.

Sim Disabled
Network Disabled
Network Subset Disabled
Service Provider Disabled
Corporate Disabled

any advice.

Ok , so do you have a Blackberry Data plan? Unlocking does not mean it will work without one.

Im not sure what a data plan is... i have an internet plan. when i turn on the connections it says Manual mode / sos calls

Ok got that still cant make calls / send texts. and should be able to do that without a data plan.

Change the connections to Automatic so it will pick up O2. Then you should be able to do voice and SMS.

You might also get with your carrier and make sure that your SIM card is compatible with BlackBerry. Sometimes they are not compatible.

I have changed network selection mode to automatic, pulled out battery and started all over again still only sos calls.

Wondering if the OP even has service but because it's a second hand BB maybe it's defective.
