Hi, new to BB, have a used BB8130, and I'm at the activation stage where I need to program the device. On-line, I provided the ESN, and received the lock code. I can enter ## but I can't enter the leading zero of the lock code, nor an 8.
I suspect the prev user has some form of input mask so numbers are dialled OK. I can't find this in the instructions. Help please. thanks
The device was on Bell and I'm 1/2 way getting it to work on my Bell account. I gave Bell the ESN and Bell gave me the lock code to complete changing devices to this BB8130. I am supposed to press the green call key and enter ##043822 (for example), to open the CDMA programming. I can enter ## but not a 0 or a 4 or an 8.
This same process was successfully completed for a different 8130 on another line on my account earlier today.
If it's a Bell device, then they should just be able to activate it using the PIN and ESN. I must be missing something or there is more to it. If it was on Bell previously, then I don't understand the need to unlock it.
Thanks for the input. What I'm trying to access is the CDMA programming. The 2 and 5 and 8 and 0 keys aren't working. I tried the calculator and memo apps. The device is like new. Any suggestions?
For Verizon devices (and Bell devices) you press the Green (phone) button and then type in ##000000 and then press the Green (phone) button again in order to get to the CDMA programming screen.
Thanks for the info, I have the ##000000 code to open the CDMA programming, unfortunately the 2, 5, 8, 0 keys do not work. I can type ## but not the 000000. I tried these keys in the calculator and memo apps. No go. All other keys work OK, no water damage, device is like new. Battery out and reboot doesn't change anything, and I don't want to try a master reset because I can't type BlackBerrY (2 and 8 keys no input).
There is no way a previous user could have set up a xxx8220;maskxxx8221; to prevent the keys from working normally. As suggested before this BB has a problem and more than likely the keyboard was wet at some time. Even a small amount of moisture will cause the key problem. Sometimes simply being in a bathroom during a shower will produce enough moisture to cause damage. Depending on how old it is you might be able to return it to the seller. If that is not an option your in for a new BB.
