Hello,

I am having problems reconciling messages between the BB and Gmail.

I have a 9700 for personal use.

I setup Gmail on the phone without having to enter the IMAP details. I assume the account was created as IMAP because messages sent to my Gmail address appear instantaneously on the BB.

Messages that appear in Gmail on the web appear simultaneously on the BB.

Messages sent from Gmail on the web appear simultaneously on the BB.

Messages sent from Gmail on the BB appear simultaneously in Gmail on the web.

Messages deleted from Gmail on the BB are deleted simultaneously in Gmail on the web.

HOWEVER:

Messages deleted from Gmail on the web are not deleted from Gmail on the BB.

Does anyone know why this is and how to resolve it?

They will eventually delete.
It's a lower priority task for BIS. Sometimes it takes several hours for the delete to reconcile from Desktop to handheld.

Are you sure there is any kind of sync?

I deleted a message from Gmail 36 hours ago and it's still on the BB.

Any ideas?

For me (Gmail), the frequency at which messages seem to delete from my BB varies, but it is usually at the same time new email is delivered to my BB. So if I go 8 hours without receiving an email, old emails will not get deleted from my BB during that time.

If email is coming through on a somewhat regular basis, I find the messages I deleted from webmail rarely stay on my BB more than a few hours.

If you find the messages just are not being reconciled, it might be worth your while to either re-send the service books or remove the account from your BB and just re-add it again.
