Default BES 4.1.4 Migration Question

Please Login to Remove!

Several questions in upgrading to BES 5 Express if someone would help, that'd be great ! I have 10 users on BES 4.1.4 and Exchange 2003 with Verizon's $44.95 plan.

* It looks to me that the free Express version does everything that the 4.1.4 does, am I going to loose any functionality ? I only have one policy for password and encryption. We use Outlook Meeting Invites, E-mail, Calendar.

* moving from BES4.1.4 Exchange 2003 to BES 5 Express, can I just disable the BES 4 and install BES 5 and do enterprise activation ? or do I have to go through the lengthy procedures that I see in various posting and BlackBerry upgrade doc ?

* I saw something about BIS and BES service and that the BES 5 Express supports both. Does that mean I can downgrade our Verizon BES to BIS plan and receive the same service ? Will moving from BES to BIS cause any problems ?

Default Re: BES 4.1.4 Migration Question

here are your upgrade options.
BES/SBE/BPS 4.x upgrade options to BES Express 5.0 - BlackBerry Support Community Forums

change to BIS does not affect anything. you cant push apps though with BIS.
with out a BES data plan you can not do OTA activations unless a device is wiped.
Technical Note - Activating Devices That are Associated With the BlackBerry Internet Service Over the Wireless Network - 5.0.1, 5.0.2

Also in BB appworld there is an activation app to assist you.
