just started my PB and was alerted about an update...installed with no issues...will report any differences i can find...

i know this release has been out for a little bit but i just got it...lol...

Are you sure it was really an update? Perhaps was it a small, quick download? If you deleted some things, say pre-installed apps, or home screen browser bookmarks, the PlayBook will later prompt you to download an update, but it will be the same OS version, and the download size will be small.

it was small in size but nothing i did prompted the alert...i have been using the PB as usual...just turned it on this afternoon and it popped up...

So far, OS updates have been somewhere around 300 MB (I'm going from memory). Anything much smaller than that (say around 2 MB or so) is just the PlayBook attempting to reinstall a pre-installed application that you deleted.

I really wish they would get the next update out. The major issues I have with the device are making it tough to use it on a regular basis such as:
- frequent need reboot as apps or the device hangs
- issues reading PDFs (50% actually open - the rest have an error)
- inability to read Office 2007 .pptx files
- issues opening attachments in emails
