Exclamation Problem With My Blackberry!!! Heeelp!

Please Login to Remove!

I'm the owner of a BlackBerry Storm 9530. When I was updating my software using the Desktop Manager, it crashed and now all it appears is a white screen which reads: "Reload Software: 507". I've searched a lot and I know it means my cell phone doesn't have an operative system. Please, HERE is where I need help.

A) I first tried to simply connect it to the BlackBerry Desktop Manager, it seemed to work until it crashed and showed the unspecified error J:0x0000001A

B) Then I looked up this issue on the web, downloaded the latest software version from the Blackberry offical web page, erased the vendor file, run the loader.exe, took out my cell phone battery, connected my device, quickly clicked "Next", placed again my battery... It worked normally until at last moment, it appeared the unspecified error J:0x0000001A.

B) I kept doing the same thing above like... 7 times? In each one I tried different procedures: changed the time where I place the battery, downloaded a previous software version (4.7 I believe), tried in different computers, etc.

C) Then, I tried to wipe it and reinstall the operative system using JL_Cmder, which didn't work at all. The two times I tried it, ended up with the same "Reload Software: 507" screen.

The thing is: I'm afraid I'm screwing my BlackBerry, and I don't want to keep doing this. All I need to know is what am I doing wrong? I've heard I should try software version 4.5, but I couldn't find it anywhere. I'd like to know what does "unspecified error J:0x0000001A" mean as well and how I can get rid of it.

Please, I'll be deeply grateful if you can help me through this problem.

Make sure that you are installing the OS for your specific device. The 9500 OS will not work on a 9530.

Make sure that you have a power and data cable, not a power only cable connected and also plug directly into the laptop or PC, do not go via a HUB.

507 means there is no OS on the device. See the FAQ for what to do if Jl_cmdr will not connect. Keep trying it could take several tries. The reload the OS using our instructions found in the sticky at the top of the 9500 section.

You can also try BBSAK and see if that will connect and load the OS. Use Google to find the latest version.

bbuse90, I can't add much to the above, except I doubt you are doing anything to harm the BlackBerry. Also, if the above suggestions don't lead to a solution, best try using a different computer to at least get the OS installed, then later troubleshoot the original computer....if the above suggestions aren't the answer.

Thanks to all of you... It seemed you three guys were right... I tried with a different cable, in a different computer and used an OS for the BlackBerry Storm 9530 available at RIM's web site. I still don't know how this didn't work before, since I think I did all these... Well, I guess you've got to have a little bit of luck as well... Thank you all of you!!!

Sometimes these updates get interrupted mid-stream for no apparent reason. It could be a glitch on the computer, like the hard drive skipping a bad sector and hanging the update process. Could be a million little things. The important thing is that BlackBerrys are rarely bricked for good, like with so many other cell phones. 99% of the time they are recoverable.

Good news.
