I am migrating users from a BES 5.0.2 server to a new BES 5.0.3 server and am attempting to use the Enterprise Transporter tool. Both servers contain a local SQL db, the old is SQL 2000 and the new is SQL2008.

Initially, I migrated a small group of users, approximately 5 without any issues. I then proceeded to migrate 30 which appeared to go well, but I then discovered that several of the users were no longer receiving email. To allow them to receive email, a re-activation was required.

I still currently have approximately 600 users to migrate, and am hesitant to do so until I figure out what is going on with the enterprise transport. Anyone got any suggestions? Right now, I am considering moving my 30 users back to my old BES and doing a knife edge cutover.

For starters, the Enterprise Transporter tool is supposed to be used for migrating from BES 4.x to BES 5. You really shouldn't be using it for a BES 5 to BES 5 migration.

Is there any special reason you decided to attempt the move in this manner?

I would definitely go with a knife edge cutover instead of the transporter tool.

We wanted to do it with a phased in approach, and Tsupport said this would be the best way to go, now they are suggesting that we do a knife edge.

Tsupport has not been great on this one, they can't even offer an explanation as to why the Enterprise Transport tool failed.

It would help if you mentioned what version of everything you are using including transporter tool,where are you running it, etc etc

For the Bulk migration which option are using ?.. Please chose slow sync option and migrated the users.
