You need a smartphone data plan with an Android device.

As NJ said, enjoy your Android device.

We have seen European carriers begin integrating BlackBerry data into their standard smartphone data plans, and I can only hope US carries follow suit. While BB data is usually the same price as iPhone/Android data, it is a different plan and confuses consumers. Sprint includes BlackBerry data in their Everything data plans, but you still need to call them when activating a BlackBerry for Sprint to enable it. Better, but not ideal.

BlackBerrys have always been their own unique class of smartphones. Some folks don't even call them smartphones, insisting they are BlackBerrys and nothing more. When they were considered strictly business devices that was fine. But as RIM tries more and more to push into the consumer this segregation of their devices into a unique class of hardware hurts them. Sure, tech aficionados will do their research prior to buying a new smartphone, but the average consumer just wants to pick it up and use it. The out-of-the-box experience is one place where Apple excels and RIM would do well to reexamine this aspect of using a BlackBerry.

Android does some things superbly and others not so well. Battery life on every Android device I've ever owned is a major concern. Email handling, while greatly improved on Android, still doesn't come close to BlackBerry email IMHO. The trick is finding the device that works best for you and matches your own priorities. If web browsing is a priority for you on your mobile, an iPhone or Android phone is probably your best bet.

For me, email, other messaging (including BBM), calendar/contacts management, and good old fashioned phone calls are how I use my mobile. So for me BlackBerry is king. I have no allegiance to a brand or company. I use whatever works best for me, and I try a LOT of different devices. I have yet to find anything better for the way I work than what RIM offers.

@ rambo47,

I agree with you. I'm in love with the blackberry. Soon I will be changing to a BB plan. I dont like the touch screen key boards anyway.
