Question Verifing BIS operation

Please Login to Remove!

How do you verify that your blackberry is using BIS? My provider activated my Blackberry and provided me with the APN and reprovisioned my blackberry and I cannot send a Blackberry email of use Nobex (radio application)

I sent a blackberry message to myself and did not recieve the message and Nobex show the graphic representing the radio station but displays connecting in the right corner of the BB.

Are you sure the BlackBerry's radio is on? In the bar at the top in the center it should show the name of your carrier and in the upper right corner it should show what network is in use. Check your Networks and Connections, under Mobile Network to confirm your Data Services are on and that your Network Selection Mode is set to Automatic and Network Mode is 3G/H+ & 2G. If you're trying to use Wifi, check to see if your BlackBerry is seeing your wifi network. It sounds like you don't have a radio turned on.

Sounds more like you don't have a BlackBerry data plan. BIS does not require an APN. If you have BIS service you should see the BB logo (similar to the logo on the menu button) just to the right of the service used for connection, either the carrier technolgy or Wi-Fi.

Do you have a 9300 or a 9360? What is your OS version?

I was told by wind mobile canada today dec 26 that [email address] (xxx represent a valid email name) cannot be created as a blackberry email. It is only used to administer other email accounts like gmail and hotmail. I know this not correct. Any wind mobile users that can confirm?

That address in post #6 should probably be [email address]kberry.net.

You need to understand exactly what that password is for.

As far as the password, as FYI, some people have a BIS password and some don't. Those who do have to enter that password to setup or edit a hosted email account (the @carrier.blackberry.net address) when using the email setup app on the device. Those who are not required to have a BIS password as such do not encounter a password prompt when using the email setup on the device. The password you were sent could be that password.

Also note (again) that the hosted email is a .net and not a .com.
