I have a BB9780 and and see that I get emails on my phone but these do do not always dowload onto my windows 7 computer running outlook.
The email message should reflect on both my phone and computer

please can someone advise what I can try

How is your email configured? BES? BIS with gmail, hotmail, exchange, pop, imap, none of the above?

The most common reason messages deliver to just one client is using POP with a delete command set for after downloading. That needs to be set to "leave message on server" or some such in all your clients - whether BIS or outlook.
