Default Themes Security Question

Please Login to Remove!

This is for those of you who have themes experience and use encryption. My stock Sprint BlackBerry 6 theme has the little padlock on the top left corner of the lock screen indicating that encryption is in use. I've noticed that none of the themes I've downloaded from AppWorld have this. Why is this? Is this just a flaw in the theme building software theme builders are using? I mean, those themes don't actually alter my security settings in any way, do they? I tend to think it's a case of the former. TIA for your thoughts and experience.

I do not believe that Themes interfere with your Security Settings. Have you tried using other themes to see if the icon appears?

As with any Theme, it's up to the dev on what icons and notifications show up (visually, I mean) Try another theme, or contact the dev for specifics, but I do not believe a theme can impact your device's security settings.

Yes, I thinking along the same lines as you. According to RIM, when encryption is in use and you lock your BlackBerry, a small open padlock icon appears at the top of the screen to indicate that the copy of the key is being erased from the handheld's memory. Once that process is complete, the little padlock icon closes. I've just never seen this on any of the themes I've tried, other than the stock theme.

***UPDATE***: Sharing My Findings

Looking closely, here's what I found. (I'm using a third-party theme obtained from AppWorld.)

I allow calls when my phone is locked. The first pic is of the screen you see when you go to place a call when the phone is locked. Circled in red is the small padlock icon indicating that the encryption key has been erased. The red circle on the second pic shows where the padlock icon normally appears on the locked home screen of any stock theme I've ever used. So, because the padlock icon still appears somewhere, I think it's safe to conclude that the encryption key is still properly erased, and encryption is in full force, even when this third-party theme is in use. The icon is simply not displayed on the lock screen of any third-party theme (that I've ever used).
