I recently purchased a Blackberry 7520 off eBay, and everything was working fine for the first week or so. Now, about every 3 days I'm getting a JVM Error 545 (incompatible or corrupt filesystem) which requires me to wipe everything and reinstall the Blackberry OS.

Does anyone know what could be causing this problem and how I could fix it? Thanks!

From the RIM Support web site (and this is totally useless as far as I'm concerned):

545 VM_INCOMPATIBLE_FILESYS: an incompatible or corrupt filesystem was found The VM has detected an incompatible or corrupt filesystem. The filesystem should be extracted immediately when this error is detected.

I have not idea what "extracted" means.

How have you been wiping out the BB?

Have you installed any third party software or themes on your BlackBerry since you got it? At this point, there is probably nothing you can do to fix it, other than wipe and reload.

When I first got the phone, I installed Ramble IM. However, after the 2nd JVM 545 error, I thought that could be the problem so I haven't installed it (or any other 3rd party software) since.

For wiping the 7520, I'm using wipe.bat from the Javaloader package mentioned on these forums.

Any ideas?

Yes, wipe.bat will do it for you. Or, you can download JL_Cmder from the link in my signature. Both do basically the same thing, I just added a few more commands into JL_Cmder.

Is there a reason this has been happening so frequently? I hate having to reinstall the OS twice a week.

Try running the BlackBerry without any third party software, themes, or ringtones. If you are still having problems with the stock BlackBerry OS then you might have sparatic hardware failure.
