Default Caller ID...from the other end

Please Login to Remove!

I searched and couldn't find the answer. When I call a land line that has caller ID it shows up wrong. I have a 7250 through Alltel, is this something I can change? Is it something Alltel has to do?

Does it show the correct My Number if you open the phone ribbon on your BlackBerry?

Sorry, I think I didn't explain it well enough. The land line caller ID displays a name, which is not displaying the right name kind of (it has the right first name but wrong last name). I'm guessing this is something on the other end's caller ID, but being new (I've had it for four days) to Blackberry I wasn't sure if there was some way to attach a name to my number for other person's caller ID>

Call your service provider and ask them to change the Caller ID, I know Cingular does this you just have to find the right person that knows what you are talking about.

Caller ID reports the name the account is in or the number or nothing and is totally dependant on the provider. If you are getting the wrong thing, call you provider and tell them it is reporting wrongly and it should say what is on your statement.

I believe if you go to your phone->options->general options-> you can choose to restrict your identity. That ought to do it.

While that would work, if you were to call any persons cell that had your number programmed, your number would only show as "unknown" when you called. I know that I dont answer unknown calls.

Corey You can bypass that by adding *82 in front of the number you want to call and have them see your number after all. You would do this in the contact info for that persons phone. Its a bit of a pain at first when you have to do it to all the different contacts you might want to have see your number but after you do it once and keep it in mind for any new additions its well worth it that is how I do it, specially since I do not give my cellular phone none but to a few people. A faster way of editing this would be to do it in your outlooks contact list and then synch it to the BB, try it you will see how efficient it is.

You know.... thats not a bad idea. Since im in sales, i am worried that i am going to call someone to test their phone and then one night i am going to get phone calls in the middle of the night. (i seriously do have nightmares about that...jk). I would still like to call people that i know and have their number show up. I will try that. Thanks for the new info.. I knew it worked with landlines, did not know that about cells.

That really is an innovative idea. As you said, adding that in front of every # in your contact book can be a pain, but after that, your set.
