Question 8700/Bharti 4.1 Bluetooth in car reboots phone

Please Login to Remove!

I paired the phone with my car last night. Made a test call to home and was presented with a rebooting phone. Paired to my MOTO H700 and everything worked great. Deleted all paried devices and re-paired with car with still the same resutls. It even does it when you are not on a call.
Any ideas?

Try one of the other two 'newer' OS's that came out....just search for them in the 8700 Discussion.

One is .286 and one is.310 (I think)

EDIT:

Here are the threads:

OK downloaded the OS from the link. However the application loader does not see anything on the device-therefore I can't run the update.

No problems here w/ the Bharti OS and my '05 Acura TL. I did not have to re-pair my H700 nor my HFL after the upgrade.

I have the same problem with my BMW. I have the latest .310 load from Orange and still, every second or third connection to the 8700, it reboots....

Frustrating :(

Perhaps I should delete the profile and re-associate.

Default Content Protection?

This strange thing happened to me also.
We in Europe have this 8700 for testing purposes, for a short time it's now in the shops. During the first tests the 8700 worked perfectly with my BMW.

Last week I got the 8700 back after lending it to some other persons and I also got the reboots when I stepped into the car. I found that the only thing that was changed since the last time I used it is the setting on Content Protection and Content Compression. I formerly used it with Content Protection DISABLED.

Today I found out that this option was disabled on our BES server and that Content Protection was ENABLED. I had it changed back today, switched the setting on the 8700 back to Content Protection DISABLED. I haven't got a reboot in the last few hours. I have to do some more experiencing, but I somehow think this is the solution.

Content Protection protects the information from being readable when your BB is locked.

I hope it works.

Perhaps I should start another thread....but what are your experiences with Echo Control. Which is the best option? Automatic, Off or On?

This issue is rearing it's ugly head again in our organization. Anyone found a resolution?

Pairing an 8700 to a BMW auto...

The device is running the firmware available via the BlackBerry.com website as of this moment. I'm not sure what steps would be required to resolve this particular issue.

If I can't get this working, perhaps I will call warranty replacement.... but that doesn't even seem to be the resolution.

On my device the rebooting has stopped with the mentioned change of settings.

Do you have Content Protection enabled or disabled? (should be disabled).

To add my experience; Had stock Cingular 8700c and my BT handsfree car system caused reported rebooting. I upgraded to Bharti and it solved the problem for me.

Where do I find the content protection option?

I have a 2006 BMW 550i and don't have a single problem with my BB 8700 and rebooting. I'm on 4.1.0.284.. My wife is on 4.1.0.194 and is not having any reboot issue either.

Mine will reboot sometimes if I am on a BB headset and I have the car charge plugged into it. Maybe this is the issue you are having?

Using a Jabra BT200 and the new Jabra JX10 headset (and ofcourse the BMW Bluetooth)...

I have a BlackBerry on BES (don't know if this option is on BIS) and the option can be changed at Options - Security Options - General Settings - Content Compression.

This option encrypts your data on the handheld when you go to the locked mode of the device (a lock appears in the main screen). My thinking is that when the car exchanges the encrypted data it gives back a strange signal so that the BlackBerry decides to reboot.

When you are in a secure company they will probably donot allow you to switch this option yourself. You have to ask the administrator to being able to change this option. We did a risk analysis and set it against user friendliness and decided to have the option enabled on request.

Good luck! I'm not using my Nokia anymore in the car! BB works perfect!
