Default Poor voice quality!

Please Login to Remove!

...not on their end, but on mine. I can hear everyone I speak to on my 7750 just fine but they complain that my voice either sounds 'distant' or flat, like a robot's voice. I usually have to raise my voice a little so people can hear me. So far I can't find any options on the phone other than putting the volume all the way up (but I think that's for the speakerphone on MY end).

Anyone else have a similar issue? Is it something I could get fixed at a Verizon store? Thanks in advance!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8700/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/102)

Have yout tried upgrading your OS? This may give your issues a resolution

After trying what the little green lizard recomended and I am being serious...
Have you tried holding the BB a little farther from your mouth? I see people all the time press it too close to their cheek/mouth. That leads to a muffled sound. That may help as well.

Hmm, well I'm running BB OS 4.0. I don't think they have 4.1 for my model right?
I guess I can try holding the phone farther away but I doubt that's what's doing it. I usually hold it, you know, a normal distance away. But I just remembered one other thing. It sounds a lot better when I plug in a headset. I've tried using an air duster on the microphone but still no dice.

*Bump*
Any other ideas? I realize this is not the best model out there, hehe. But I'm wondering if the voice quality is a problem with the model or my particular phone.

Actually, the gecko guy just gave me an idea. What if I use an OLDER version of BB OS? Maybe the bad audio has something to do with the processor not being powerful enough to handle BB OS 4.0 with CDMA? Anyone know where I can download older OS versions?

I recall reading something about a hardware flaw in the 7750 that sometimes results in poor mic audio--I believe you need to compress the area around the mic to resolve? Let me do some research and see what I find...this may be hardware issue....

Really? Woah, that'd explain a lot. It doesn't seem to be consistently bad either, which makes it even more likely a hardware problem.

Hey Jase, were you able to find out how to fix it? Or does anyone else have another idea? The problem seems to be on and off. Sometimes people just say my voice sounds quiet and other times people can barely hear anything at all.

I did some research, and it turns out the issue I was thinking of related to the keyboard connection--not a mic issue. My apologies for the confusion.

Obviously some sort of hardware issue is at fault here. Given that this is an older model, I would highly recommend upgrading to the 7250--which has more memory, a faster processor, bluetooth, etc.

The 7750 is easily the slowest BB ever sold. Honestly...I'm sure my 950 was faster...

Definitely, but that's why I was able to get it so cheap on EBay. :P
Oh well, I guess I have to live with it until my contract ends. Keeping the BB fully charged seems to help the problem though.

I was thinking...what if I downgrade to OS 3.7? I know the 7750 is way underpowered when running 4.0. Anyone know where I can download 3.7?

Well, I downgraded. Still the same problem. I'm beginning to think this is the reason the guy sold it on Ebay. :( Unless you guys know of anything else that might be causing the problem.
