I have a new 7100i with nextel service. I signed up for BB unlimited data plan but I dont seem to get text messaging from my daughter like I used to with my other phone. Is it not available with this phone?

You can receive text messages on your nextel phone but u have to send messages as email or through teleflip or a different program.

yes the Blackberry 7100i will do MMS (this is what NXTL uses for TXT), it recieves SMS and MMS just fine and sends as a MMS since NXTL does not have SMS plans any longer you would need a MMS plan to go along with it. As a former 7100i user I noticed a lot of errors with the BB and TXT messaging, check your service books and make sure there is one labeled "MMS" in there if not you need to log on to your BIS and do a "send service books." If that does not work do a master radio reset and then a register now under host routing tables.
