Default Bell Voyageur - tethering - trouble authenticating 7250

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, I have a 7250 with 4.1 installed. I just downloaded the voyageur software from Bell. Install went Ok, modem found.. no errors. When starting the program it says 1X network found in the dialer, it connects but when it gets to the authenticating part it gives me an error 'Unable to connect error [19]'

The BB does go into 'Modem Mode Enabled' and I've tried entering my phone number and VM code into the password field but still nothing.

Anyone have any luck with this software connecting to the 1X network? Do I need to install anything else on the BB? What info do you need to put into the username/password fields? It says in the user guide that if you have a phone with a mobile IP, like BB's then it will configure automatically but when I checked it was empty. Any help would be appreciated.

Mark

assuming you're using the 4.1 Blackberry Software (released yesterday by Bell), you will still need another yet to be announced update for PRL and "mobile IP". This should be avail Monday at *some* Bellworld stores - check www.businessonthego.ca/7250 for more info

Thanks for the info. Yes, I'm using the 4.1 that was just released. I thought that would be enough for the tethering function. Guess I'll have to wait for the update. Thanks again.

QUESTION: Is your Bell Blackberry on a BES?

It may work already. You need to do a software update with Voyageur. In the password field, you'll need your original voicemail password. Likely you'll need to call data support to get this number, as most people don't recall.

I'm on a BES and I still get this error 19 after all the updates. Any other ideas?

^^ That could be the issue. "IPModem" must be enabled in your BES profile. I believe by default its not enabled. Check with your BES administrator.

Hi,

I'm not on a BES. Talked to support and they gave me my original vm password, (your right you need the original). After talking to them a while, they said I'll need to wait until the PRL flash update is available like omkhar said. I'm hoping a Bell store here in Windsor will be able to do the update even though EV-DO won't be available here for some time. Going to keep my eye on the businessonthego.ca/7250 page on the 24th to see what info they provide.

Tethering would be so nice for email because I travel quite a bit.

^^ I agree, tethering is handy. I'm running into the same problem as you, so I'm anxiously awaiting the updates as well.

I saw that. I'm not impressed. This was originally supposed to be released back in March....

The 7250 has been with Bell for 14 months now...if they delay EVDO any longer, they may as well give up and wait for the 8700-series.

May 5th?!?... Nooooooo

They should just exchange the older 7250's with the new ones. ;)

Isn't the 8700 gsm only?

The best for you is the call the 1-877-Data-123 and explain your problem.

I did, they said wait for the PRL update..... May 5th. I just don't understand why I need the update to work with Voyageur. The program sees the modem and turns it on. Sees the 1x network and I get an error only when authenticating which means it is in communication with the server.

Over at HoFo, I found this:

"TM3N" optional feature must be enabled on your account for data tethering.

Thanks for the link Jase, I'll be calling them on Monday to see about the TM3N feature. I'll get this tethering working yet.... ;)

I've read quite a few posts on this issue and anyone that has gotten the voyageur software to work has the newer PRL update and are in the EV-DO network area so I guess we all have to wait till the 5th.
