I've been using the launcher while waiting for my holster from Seidio, the bottom corners of my device is starting to show a little bit of wear but no paint coming off yet.

The holster is nothing short of dangerous. I posted about my recent experience here.
The solution, if you want to stick with a holster, is the Seidio which lgreenberg reviewed here. Otherwise there are lots of cases available; do a search, check the BBF Reviews Forum or go to lgreenberg's site.

Seidio Holster
Fortte STi
I had the Fortte horizontal pouch but have since given it away.

Current Lineup:
Fortte Vertical Pouch (Custom British Tan w/360degree clip) --> use it at work
Seidio Holster --> use it at home, great for using with jeans!!

This combo of holsters works for me!! Am thinking of breaking the launcher and making it into a pocket holster, as described in another post!!

Good idea! I'm going to do this too.
You don't even have to "break it". It's designed to come apart at the ratchet with a little leverage, rather than break. (Or at least I'm giving RIM credit for for this being purposeful.) It's happened to me twice.

get both a Siedo open back plastic holster ($32.00) for daily use clip in/clip out and a Milante foam pouch holster (eBay, $9.99) for full protection when you need it and you'll be good to go

Personally, I like the stock plastic holder. There was only once where it came out when I didn't want it to, and that's because I was drunk and ran into a wall. I have no paint missing from my phone from the holster and I've had mine since around mid-December.

That makes 2 of us, because I like my plastic holster also, never had a problem with it at all. Not with my 7290 which I had for 8 months, and currently with my 8700g.

I don't know. I was too drunk to feel it.

Experience with the stock holster definitely varies. I've been happy with the ones for my 7290 and 8700. Though after saying that, I am now using RIM's leather holster for the 8700.

The "clips" on either side of my stock holster broke after about 3 months of normal use (no brick walls or the like) so Cingular replaced it for FREE and indicated they would continue to do so for one year. Unfortunately, before I got the replacement holster, my Blackberry took a dive on to my driveway from about 3 feet up and has a few dents/scratches. The "clips" really do hold the unit in place; unfortunately, they don't seem to be very sturdy.

Hey Coop..
I thought I read that in another post. I think tonight, Mr. Flat Head Screwdriver is going to become acquainted with Mr. POS BB Launcher!!

I'll try to post pics, if I figure out how!!

I'd prefer to use the plastic holster but as soon as I saw the first signs of wear on the bottom corners, I started using the TMobile leather case.
