Default Opera Mini 2.0 - Finally Usable

Please Login to Remove!

Opera released the latest version of it's Opera Mini browser today. As someone who *hated* the previous versions of Opera Mini, I have to say I'm quite impressed.

Go get you some...

Anything different from the version released a couple weeks ago in these forums?

Much better....than the version I tried a couple months back...at least the scroll wheel works now. But like Lunkhead, I think the BB browser is better for everyday stuff......

I just OTA'd it and gave it a shot. I find the general user interface to still be annoying with the need to select a text field before entering in any value. Typing in a URL is likewise annoying as is the lack of short cut keys.

One thing people have always said about Opera is that it's faster than the standard Browser. I've found both to be about the same speed for the sites which I visit most which surprised me a little.

I doubt this will remain on my BB for much longer than the next 10 minutes...

IMHO - Opera 2.0 is blazing quick. My mobile website m.motohero.net - loads really quick(xhtml). Just as quick as the WML pages in the Blackberry Browser. The last one is clunky, the mobile web is awesome.

Yes I like but there are a few things that irk me. I don't understand why it needed to use my gps. I don't like the fact you can't customize colors. I love the fact it has a option for dictionary.com. I don't know about you guys but I didn't have a application like this before mini and I really find a mobile version very useful. Also I have a tip for other users who want to speed up there load speed.there is an option to load higher quality images. Uncheck this and get faster speeds.just for those who don't know.

I tried it out and I love the display but other than that I still like the bb browser better

Tried it again still too slow, and too cumbersome to navigate. I do not see this as a way to go and I dont know if the people at Opera are seeing the needs we have and how to satisfy them, they are still missing the boat.

My only qualm with opera mini is that it appears not to support xml. I can't access this site from my blackberry using opera mini. However, I can access it fine using the built-in browser.

I find Opera to be annoying with very little shortcuts :-/. I had a hard time finding where to type in the address when in a webpage already. Speed is same, maybe barely faster than the BB browser, but the bb browser is very convenient.

I concur with most who say it's fast but annoying. Also - it's doing something weird - all page elements are centered on the screen instead of left-justified. That just bugs me.

I tried this new version today and am impressed by the speed (better than the stock BB browser).
As far as shortcuts... not enough. They added space bar to do a page down now though (Page up does not work). Also, if you press ALT and move the wheel up/down that is equivalent to PageUp/PageDown... (I might have overlooked these in the previous version)
Layout looks fine to me. Also the "small font" setting lets you see more of a page in the given screen size.
IMHO it has the potential of being the "sidekick" browser to our "hero" BB browser...

Question does it go thru BES or BWS

Does Opera use your BES or BWS?
