I had this phone for 3 days now and have seen this message and have been rendered incapable of doing anything on the wireless internet on more than 5 occasions! WTF is this all about? Does it mean the RADIO as in DC. Its a Nextel based BB 7520, BTW!

Just scroll to the little antenna icon and click to turn radio on.

I assume this is like an "airplane" mode. Basically it just stops the blackberry from transmitting or receiving -- anything (phone, dc, internet...)

Also help saves battery life; if you know you will be in a place where u will get no service anyway; manually turn the radio off.

does that turn my Direct connect off? If so can I change that setting?

It turns everything off. Just the PDA function of the bb will work.

Check out the profiles feature, if you want to silece the only the direct connect. Create a new one profile, and under DC/GC set do not disturb to YES.
