You don't have to use Redirector. Simply access your carrier' BIS site and add your Comcast account, or set up a rule on your comcast account that forwards your Comcast e-mail to your BB using your [email address] address.

You can also search Blackberry Forums for information on how to access and use BIS.

From the message you say you are getting you have installed the BES Disktop on your handheld. You simply need BIS to get all of your email from up to 10 accounts. You can read and answer.

To use Desktop Redirector, RIM will say you NEED Exchange, but some people have had success using an older version of Desktop Redirector with Outlook.

But like others have said here, the BIS account works just as good. And if you REALLY don't want to wait the 15 minutes for polling, one thing that I had set up for a while was forwarding from my Outlook to my BIS account, and had Outlook set up to poll every 5 minutes.

To get any emails fowarded to your blackberry, you need to buy service. The only possible loophole is most service providers give each cell an email address. It's something like: [email address] . But I believe each time you receive an email it actually comes as an SMS message, so you'll get charged everytime you receive a message. Then you could buy the unlimited SMS package but you're back to paying for receiving emails. Bottom line, you'll have to pay to get emails on your phone.

As has been mentioned above, without a Blackberry Data Plan, you won't be able to receive emails. Blackberry's are different then regular cell phones in that they require a special service to send and receive emails, hence the Data Plan.

That's why the carriers sell Blackberry Data Plans (hence the name of the data plan). Try reading the FAQ. It's the first thread.

DJPEETUR: read our lips -- pay for a blackberry plan or you are better off using SMS only!

There is NO way to get e-mail to your blackberry for 'free' --!!

stop trying!

For what I think is the third time in this thread....THERE IS NO WAY TO GET EMAIL TO THE BB WITHOUT A DATA PLAN.... BIS WILL NOT DO IT ... DESKTOP REDIRECTOR WILL NOT WORK WITHOUT A DATA PLAN.... You can keep asking the question over and over again but the answer will not change...YOU NEED A DATA PLAN....

You should really consider exchanging your Blackberry for some other type of handheld device.
The Blackberry is not for you.

well, you could forward your mails to someone else's BB (that had a dataplan) then use Desktop manager to backup the messages to a .ipd file. Then take that .ipd file to your computer, use desktop manager to restore the messages and read them to your heart's content. I'm being sarcastic, but the above would work.

I haven't played with Desktop Redirector. Last time I tried with with Lotus Notes (2002 time frame) it didn't work.

djpeetur,
You have been told many times that there is no way to get email to your BlackBerry without a data plan. Please trust that this isfact, not opinion. Since this thread is leading nowhere fast, and any information sought in it has been provided, I'm closing it.
