Default Removing IT Policy From Berry for user that is leaving the company

Please Login to Remove!

I work at a large firm that has over 6000 berrys
We just pushed out policy a month ago
I now has a partner that is leaving the firm and he want the policy removed from his berry,,,the password protection.
I do not know the procedure to remove the policy on just his berry.
I have searched and seened the way to "hack" the policy off, but if there is a way I can do it with the server it would be easier.

Apply a new blank policy to his BlackBerry from BES. I would also wipe his device after to make sure he is not taking any company info with him.

wipe the blackberry - give the excuse about company security. That will clear most everything. The only thing that may stay on is custom installed and pushed software.

security wipes do not remove the policy and applying a blank policy will leave everything as is (i think). You need to make a termination policy that will reverse any changes you have made. This can be done through the BES Manager.

Hopefully, you never modified the default policy. Just apply that one to the BB and you are done. That's how I do mine.

Default Policy management

I have a few different policies based on division and what that division wanted. I also created a policy named Clean Policy for the exact situation you have outlined.

Now just need a process around it where stated user is about to leave and this change can be pushed prior to the mailbox account getting whacked .. (I work in a large company where exchange and windows AD are managed seperately). Just validate the policy applies and the user will be able to now disable the policy you had applied. (you will be prompted for the old device password) .. click save and no the device is password and policy free.

I usually also issue a kill command or manually erase the device so the user can leave with no data and start fresh. Make sure you check with your HR / Info Security group about data that can leave (like contacts) etc.

I bought a phone that still has the IT policy on the phone. Is there anyway of getting that removed with out having the BES system it used to be on? I am sick of putting my password in every 10 mins. Help please.

End user method of removing IT policy.

Just don't try this if you are still on the BES that pushed the policy. You risk losing your job and it'll get pushed back anyway.

if all you want to do is remove policy, apply the default policy (assuming it is still default, don't think u can change it tho)

RIM once told me without a BES only the wireless carrier can clean out the policy. Supposedly the wireless carrier has a way to do a hardware wipe.

John, thanks for the education, and the default policy. I just applied it using your instructions on my Pearl and it worked like a charm. I appreciate the help.

There's only one thing on my BB that I've found didn't get unlocked, and that was the Firewall, under Security Options. It appears to be locked in the Enabled state, but I can still use the checkboxes for the various types of messages below that. Is that anything to worry about, or is there some way and/or reason I should work to get that unlocked? Thanks!
