Default GroupWise and BES

Do I need to have BES in order to connect to my school's GroupWise server? I'm just wondering if there is a way to get my email from the server using BIS.

If your school allows POP or web access to your email then you can use BIS.

I see. But what about things like folder structure?

I don't think they offer POP, but they do have web access. Does that mean I would have to access the email through a web browser on a BB?

EDIT: On a different subject: can I use BIS (without paying extra) as well if I have a BES account? BES comes in handy for my school's GW server, but BIS would be great for my POP accounts. Or could I just do what BIS does on my BES account?

If you pay for bes level you gat bis as well. Its from your supplier, while bes is a second server your company runs alongside the company email server. I use our bes for gw, helped set it up, and use my tmo bis for my other email accounts.

good luck

So the BES server has to be setup seperately from the GW server? I don't know if my school has one up since I haven't seen anyone else use their BB for our GW server.

How would I be able to access my GW mail without BES?

have your school's IT enable POP or IMAP access (IMAP's better w/ GW) and set up the account on your BIS

you only other option is a forwarding rule (not 100% sure if w/ GW it leaves a copy for your mail client as well doing this though) whcih again your schools IT would need to set up
