Policy has to be removed by the BES that issued it. Is this the BES at your work? If so see if the BES Admin can push a blank policy to your device. Unfortunately wiping the device won't do anything.

yes it is a Bes at my work and i dont think they will push a blank policy at all they are pretty incompitent here, its not just wiping it i have a blank policy.bin from that site however it still wont clear the password policy that is still enabled...

i thought people did this and it cleared up their BB..any ideas.... Im losing my mind here

1 - you did something wrong when applying the policy.bin
2 - you shouldn't remove the policy, assuming you are still on the BES and still with that company - likely it is against company policy AND they can view whether or not you did this. in all honesty, if you were an employee at my company, i'd have you fired.

Are you still listed on your BES? If so, and they have a updated policy that requires you have a password, then everytime you re-establish the BBs connection to the BES after a wipe, it will download the new policy and you are right back where you stared from. At least that's the way I understand BES.

Hope this helps

that is also my understanding and yes im still in this particular BES, i know other bes severs in the company dont have that policy yet and i know this b/c i setup a BES 4.0 over a year ago without before i switched to a diff sector, however for the past year i didnt have this issue and it only happened after i wiped my BB today and tried to reload it...

my issue is that why is the BB asking for a new password and remembers the past few passwords if i just wiped it and put the policy.bin in the right location and followed the directions... should this not clear everything till I Sync with the desktop manager which then uses the outlook profile linked to the BES sever..

I should also add the when i do this i put in a new password and i check the security options and i see that it shows the IT POLICY as DEFAULT then after i sync it loads a new Date at the bottom from last year and at that point after i synch i i would expect the company IT policy to kick into effect but it seems like the policy.bin is not doing anything at all?

Ok here is a update... I just got home and ran the same procedure and it works fine.. my guess is that b/c im at work and the computers are all linked to my Outlook profile which is linked to the Bes through Exchange no matter what when i hooked up the cable to load the new bin it would automatically load the BES policy despite the registry... anyway it will be interesting to see what happens tom when i hook up the cable to do ent activation,, damn 3.6.. i should have stayed on bes 4.0

well thanks to all that helped

Reread the instructions. Your registry path is incorrect. The path in the registry is not the same as where you installed the policy.bin file.

All your work will be all for nothing. As soon as you reactivate your BlackBerry to the corporate BES server their policy will be pushed right back down.

registry path has nothing to do with it, i can put it in c:\policy.bin or what ever i choose it just has to match and yes i put it in the right path as instructed i just didnt type the thing up correctly above.. anyway problem was fixed and i just got on and synced and they pused their policy on me..

You were not able to defeat the security features that your company had placed on the device that they own and let you use (assuming it is a company edvice). I don't see where the sadness should come from.

Wirelessly posted (7250: BlackBerry7250/4.1.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/109)

Interesting how many people out there willfully attempt to circumvent security procedures put into place by their employers.

Its incredible how much time IT departments need to waste fixing problems brought on by this sort of thing. Not to mention the time wasted by employees trying to fix what they mucked up!

What in my eyes would be very very sad would be if you as a result of this lost your functionality to be employed.
