Default MicroSky v3 for BlackBerry problems

Please Login to Remove!

Has anyone tried installing the new version of MicroSky for the Blackberry? I just installed v3 (with J2ME MIDP 2.0 and Bluetooth API support) on my 8700g, and am having problems with it. I can launch the app and login with no problems. I can then have it draw a map for me, but once the map's drawn, the entire thing just freezes up and I just see the hourglass spinning on top of the map. Only way to get out of it is the yank the battery.

Anyone else tried playing around with this new version? Any similar problems?

Well, I guess to answer my own question, it's a problem with the software. I guess it's still in beta and they're working out the kinks.

I just realized I was in the 8700 forum. I have a 7520 and am having the same issues you are. Maybe when they fix your problems then mine will be fixed also :D .

They just put up a new beta version. It gets rid of the freezing problem. But after the map is drawn, scrolling on the screen is EXTREMELY slow. I'm talking like, the cursor will move like a pixel or two, and then you see the hourglass. It takes like a minute or two to just scroll across the screen.

Anyway, the developer said that the problem with their app was in the way their app interacted with the 8700g memory management system. I wonder if this system is similar to the one that you have... Hmmm... You might want to try emailing them also and see if they've heard of anything similar.

When they fixed your problem they fixed mine. Now hopefully it will speed up a little.

I just checked the latest beta release, and it seems to work perfectly now. The delay's just about gone. The cursor doesn't move as freely and quickly as in version 2, but it's not sluggish any more either.
