Default switching from 7100t to 8700g - pricing and questions

Please Login to Remove!

I have a 7100t and the wheel is starting to fail on it after acouple of years of heavy usage. I'm looking at going with the 8700g as its new replacement.

Has anyone found any decent deals for "upgrading"? I know afew months ago Tmobile wouldn't do much for ya, but I didn't know if that had changed as the 8700 is a bit older now.

Also, if I do a full backup, then do a restore on the 8700, will all my email/contacts/apps/etc get moved over, or do I need to do some re-installs?

Thanks

Do you want to upgrade the bb on your existing account or would you be willing to sign a new contract. If you were willing to sign a new contract, I'd suggest going with amazon.com...thats where I got my 8700g. Right now, they have it for $75, with $125 in rebates - so you end up making $50. You do have to sign a 2 year contract and you have to maintain your plan for 6months to get the rebate. Thats my suggestion.

If you dont want to sign up a new contract, I'd say call t-mo and tell them you've been a loyal customer for x time and you were wondering if there are any promotions for people willing to upgrade.

I'd rather keep my current contract. I know at one point, you could buy from amazon, then cancel and not return the BB. I don't know if they got smart and now require the return.. People were doing that in droves for the cingular one.

Hi, I have been a TM customer for over a few years now and every 11 months on your contract they allow you an upgrade deal. If you haven't bought a phone in a while then you might get it at a pretty good cost. I had bought a phone only two months ago so the best they could do for me is give it to me for $350. with a 2 year contract...but I love TM so I didn't mind. Call the 800 number and see what they tell you...
