Default Keep getting sim error

Please Login to Remove!

Hi, after dropping my 8700c a few times, I think the sim holder is loose. I now very frequently get sim card errors that make me have to remove my battery push the sim back in all thogh most of the times it doesn't seem to have shifted at all. Any advice. This is now becoming very annoying.

Hey bud! Thanks for joining!

2 things:

a) Go to a corporate owned retail store and request a new SIM card. Its free and there is an offchance that you dropping your 'Berry like its hot has nothin to do with that error. Could be the SIM, ive seen it many times!

b) After getting a new SIM the problem still persists try taking some little SIM-sized pieces of scotch tape and "layering" them on the back of the SIM card so that the card fits tighter and puts more pressure on the connections!

McGuyver would be proud!

jdjleo is thinking. Most people would just say return or exchange the device for a new one.

Try cleaning the SIM card and the device contacts with DeoxIT (CAIG Laboratories), followed by an application of DeoxIT GOLD. Works for me.

I get this on my 8700 sometimes, nothing like a quick reboot to solve your problems!!!

Agree with the post about taking it in and having them replace the simm. Had a similar problem when I had a razr. And yest re-boots, removing and re-inserting the simm, cleaning the sim etc all worked, but only for a while. Then it finally said SIMM error and there was nothing that worked. So I took it into a Cingular corporate store, and they just gave me a new one and the problems all went away. Only thing I was a little diappointed in is they could not recover any of the names and phone numbers stored on the simm. So I lost all of those.

Yah, if the SIM totally goes south we cant recover the numbers and copy them to another SIM.

Which is another good reason to scoot into a COR store and get a new SIM. They will have a little copier that can put all your old numbers on the new card. And if the problem isnt the SIM we can go from there!
