Default Red light flashing but unit will not turn on??

Please Login to Remove!

This is a RIM 7280 through Cingular. I have tried the following with no success: Pressing the reset button, removing and replacing both the battery and SIM card. The red light on the top of the unit is continually flashing but the unit will not power on. Doesn anyone know what I can do?

Sounds like a serious problem. Everytime I have seen this resulted in replacing the device. I doubt a 7280 is under warranrty, you will probably have to buy a new one.

You may be able to recover the unit by plugging it into your computer, running Applications Loader and forcing recognition at the Communication Port Selection screen. (Just click on the selections and wait; it will usually do an emergency connnect.) Then you can wipe and reinstall the OS.
But this will probably just be a temporary fix. A problem like yours tends to come back. I have to agree with d_fisher that there is a replacement in your future.

I ran in to the same problem with a customer. I wiped the device and reloaded the OS. it actually took a couple of times of wiping and reloading to resolve the issue, but success

Default Power Button Failure in One Direction

My 7280 Fails to power on, however, it works fine to power off. Only by reinserting the battery will it start. The keyboard appears fine. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

Run through application loader and see what happens. That will most likely resolve it. I've gotten them back even though they are in this state.
