Default Exchange 5.5 to 2003 Upgrade

Please Login to Remove!

I'm doing an upgrade from Exchange 5.5 to 2003; I'm going to be swinging users from the existing 5.5 user to 2003, keeping them in the same organization. I've got Exchange 2003 up and running, ADC working, and I've moved a couple of mailboxes, including my own. I've also setup the necessary security in the 2003 information store as instructed in the BES install documentation.

Unfortunately, I'm no longer getting anything on my Blackberry. I picked up the 5.5 to 2003 upgrade doc on the Blackberry.com website, and followed their steps (stop Dispatcher, ran handheldupdate -u) to the best of my ability; some of the steps don't work (using "Reload user" to force ScanGAL just gives me the "Unable to load mailbox for user" error) or don't make sense (reconfiguring the MAPI connection to the new Exchange server--will that hurt the users still on the old server?)

One thing I haven't done is install the Exch2003 Admin program onto the BES server--again, I'm afraid of what that might do for connecting to users still on the 5.5 box.

So, anyone have any tips? IEMSTest reports "Openmsgstore Failed" when I try to connect to my mailbox, and, like I mentioned, my BB hasn't been syncing since I moved myself.

Where is the Service Account on 5.5 or 2003?

What permission does the Service Account have on the Exchange 2003 Server?

The service account mailbox is still on 5.5; the doc recommended moving a user mailbox first (and I'm the most likely guinea pig). The service account has the required permissions on the 2003 server, as well--to test, I logged into an XP system as the service account and configured Outlook to bring up my email--it worked without problem.

I'll go ahead and install System Manager 2k3, and see what happens.
