Exclamation Choosing Account When Replying?

Please Login to Remove!

I just upgraded to a Pearl from a 7250. On both devices, when you reply to a message, you are not presented with the option to select the account to be used when sending.

On the 7250, this isn't a problem, as the reply goes out via the account through which the original was received. The behavior appears to have changed on the Pearl, however.

I've got a my work account (BES) and one BIS account set up on the 8100. When I receive a message via my BIS account and send a reply, the message is improperly sent via BES. Again, I cannot locate an option to permit me to change the sending account.

This is a bug, right? Am I going crazy? Anyone have ideas for a workaround?

go to settings>advanced options>messaging services and make it whatever email you want.

You no longer get to choose between accounts on a message-by-message basis.

Nope, its not a bug but by design. You most likely have an IT Policy applied to your device that restricts outside emails. It forces all outbound email to pass through the BES server regardless of the inbound account.

It may have worked for you in the past due to a bug in the policy. The issue was fixed in a recent service pack. I have had a number of people complain at my employeer already. When you activated the new device you got a fresh IT Policy with the bug fix in place.

OK, so it's a BES issue and if all my account are through BIS, I should still be able to choose which address I would like to reply/send from, correct?

I can do it on my 8100 with BIS. It starts with the default Blackberry.net account but lets me change it with a drop-down menu. Companies seem to be taking away this feature from BES-enabled devices with newer, more restrictive IT policies.

This fixed it! Thanks so much for the tip...

Once I changed the CMIME setting to my BIS account, it behaves just as it should:

- Replies to messages sent through BES send via BES
- Replies to messages sent through BIS send via BIS

Woo-Hoo!
