Default Call Quality on 8100?

Please Login to Remove!

In cnet.com's review of the 8100, one of the negatives they noted was that in their testing "call quality was subpar". Any current users have comments on this assessment? I am on the fence post, trying to decide between purchasing the 7800g and 8100.

I have no problems with the sound quality. It sounds better than most phones that I've tried.

Voice through the headset and directly through the earpiece is fine. Speakerphone was not great, but I only tried it twice.

I've noticed a little less treble than with most phones, but that may be just because of noise on other devices.

Still, the audio is about ten times better than my 7100t(s).

Phenomenally <sp?> better than my 7105t was, both incoming and outgoing. Everyone I've talked to has said it sounds great on their end... it sounds slightly tinny on my end, but not terribly so; i've certainly used worse!

So far so good with mine. Calls sound clear to me. I haven't utilized the speakerphone yet or used a bluetooth headset so that's on my to do list.

Much better then the 8700. people can hear and understand me outside when it is noisy and windy. They had a hard time on the 8700.

I was on a one hour call and had no issues whatsoever. Just as good as any cell phone.

I finally used the speakerphone today on quite a few calls and I have to say I am very impressed. It may not be the loudest but the clarity was much better than my 8700. I had a lot of people complain about me using speakerphone on the 8700 but today I got zero complaints.

I think the 8700 is just a horrible device in the phone department...great device for email, but horrible when it comes to call quality....I'm on cingular in the nyc metro area, and I get waaay too many dropped calls!

I'm going to try out the pearl when they launch it with cingular....I'll just wait!
