Default 7290 Help, Please

Please Login to Remove!

I just got a used 7290 off of eBay. I put my wife's sim card in it and expected to be able to just power it up and have it ready to be used as a phone. Well, it searches and searches for the network, but finally I get "no service".

I put her sim in my BB and it worked fine there, so I called Cingular. They added her BB to the network via the IMEI number, and it still didn't work. They're starting to blame it on the BB, and rightfully so.

I'm on hold with their last tier of tech support. Any ideas as to what this might be? It was a highly reputable sender, but it's almost acting like it's got no antenna. OK, they can't help me, either.

Please tell me you can....

Is there something I need to do to it? Something I need to disable? Enable? They say there's nothing they can do, and I dread the thought of going through the hassle of trying to return it.

Thanks for anything you can offer...

I would wipe the device and try again. Maybe reload the handheld software. If its still doing the same thing I would look to return it.

Thanks, can you link me to instructions as to how to "wipe the device"? Is that just re-loading the OS?

Well well well, in searching for a way to wipe the phone, I found this:

http://www.blackberryforums.com/gene...ight=wipe+7290

I'll give you three guesses as to what town in TX my 7290 was shipped from. This guy sold me his BB knowing it didn't work. I'm so angry right now I can't see straight.

OMG, he just asked me if it was possible that it was damaged during shipping.

Well, he just gave me a refund. Never do business on eBay with user 'zene-ev1.net ' or 'zene55' here on BB forums.

This guy had great feedback. I guess he thought no one would notice his little post out here about having a BB that didn't work, so he sold it.

I'm still angry.

I know how you feel .... USED! I do hope you posted NEGATIVE (EXTREMELY NEGATIVE) feedback HERE & on Ebay. Great job on researching .... I just hope that this will help you in your future endeavors B4 purchasing.

Yeah, that's the one thing I hate about eBay. I never want to risk some tool leaving me retaliatory negative feedback, so I usually just do nothing. I think this time, though, I'll go ahead and do it.
