Default BB Maps Vs. Google Maps

Please Login to Remove!

I would like to know what you guys think of BB Maps. I don't own the 8100 and therefore I don't have OS 4.2(I have an 8700c). I use Google maps and it seems to work really well but I would like to know what you guys think so far. Which one is better?

I'm on the fence. I think both are good. I know that the BB Maps supports GPS, so that's kind of a plus. I have both installed on my 8100 and really have not put it to real use yet.

If you're not using the GPS features, I think Google Maps is better. I use the find business feature often on it, and that makes it very useful to me.

BB maps also has a tie-in to the Address Book. When on an entry, click the menu key and select "Show Home Map" or "Show Work Map" and it will launch BB maps with the selected street address showing. Very cool if you have street addresses on your contacts (which I do by virtue of synching with my computer address book).

That isn't a "feature of BB maps" per se, as I would imagine that someone could write a tie-in between the Address Book and Google maps as well, but it is very convenient and only works (as far as I know) with the BB maps application right now.

That's sounds like a useful feature. Does BB Maps have the the ability to zoom in and out and show traffic flow?

BB maps is better for "rolling the cursor through a map" as the map seems to redraw smoothly and the street names actually follow the cursor. I use google maps for generating directions.

Zoom in and out, yes. Traffic, no.
