Default BES Express 4.1 router service not starting

Please Login to Remove!

Hi,

I have just installed BES Express 4.1 on our server and the router service is not starting. The event log doesn't shed any light on the matter and every other service is fine.

The software appears to work fine until I try to activate a device.

If you need any more information to diagnose this let me know.

Thanks in advance.

Unless the router starts you won't be able to activate a device. Anything suspect in the applciation event logs? Also, is the router attempting to start with the BES service account you created?

There is nothing useful at all in the event logs and I am using the administrator account to start the service.

Have a look at the registry key for the router -
HKLM\Software\Research in Motion\BlackBerry Router- ensure that TcpPort=3101 and the NetworkAccessNode = srp.xx.blackberry.net, where "xx" is your local region.
The following represents the port information for the router service:
BlackBerry Router
Incoming data connections from:
xxx8226; BlackBerry Dispatcher 3101

Outgoing data connections to:
xxx8226; BlackBerry Messaging Agents 3101

Incoming data connections from:
xxx8226; Handhelds using the BlackBerry Handheld Manager for serial bypass 4101
Is port 4101 being used by another app? You may need to do a port query when attempting to activate a device to see if the port is listening.

What error do you get when you start it? Windows should at least return a 1069 error or something

oh and what dev was talking about, do you have any firewall or other software on 4101? use tcpview from sysinternals to see.
