Question 8700c - Security wipe to enable EA?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello all,

We have recently noticed an issue with our 8700c (cingular) devices wherein Enterprise Activation won't start/complete - it either gets stuck indefinitely at "Activating..." or gets to around 12% and then gets stuck at that point. We typically try a wireless EA first but the issue occurs whether doing a wireless or wired EA. We have BES 4.1 SP2 using Exchange 2003.

However, we've noticed that performing a Security wipe of the Blackberry before you even try the EA seems to alleviate this problem. I fail to comprehend why a new, out-of-the-box 8700c would need to have this done so hopefully someone else can provide insight.

There have also been at least two times where 8700c users (not getting new handhelds, just suddenly stopped working) have been unable to reconcile email messages when synchronizing the Blackberry (Desktop Manager set to sync message moves/deletes between BB and Outlook)…wiping the Blackberry also resolved this problem for both users.

Any suggestions or insight you might provide will be greatly appreciated.

cheers /td

I have observed the same thing over and over.

The action we have taken is to actually reload the device apps prior to installation. This has proven to be 100% effective in allowing EA & MDS Puch operations to proceed with success.
