I am noticing that about 70% of the time when i generate a new Enterprise activation (both on existing and new users) the actual email doesn't go thru. If i then set the activation password and email the user and he/she uses that password it works just fine. There are no filters that are stripping the email out of the users inbox.... Ideas??? Things i can look for? This is in an Exchange environment and other than this all is working...
That's an odd one. The email should come from your BESAdmin mailbox. Have you tried to trace the email through your network to see what happens to it? The obvious thing of course is filters but of course you've checked this already.
Are the users running any local anti-SPAM software? What does the logs indicate about the @etp.dat file? This is a file sent through the BES infrastructure to blackberry device user's mailbox. Is there some enterprise level anti-SPAM or anti-Virus software being used to quarantine suspect files?
I don't think cvenne is talking about the etp activation email, I think he/she is talking about when you get the BES to set its own random password for the new user and email to the users mailbox prior to activation.
Ok...then it has to be the SMTP configuration on the BES server. This is used to send alerts as well as the mail the info to the user. The admin can do a simple test from the command line (telnet to the smtp server).
