Cannot open Blackberry Manager

Hi All
We suffered a problem last week whereby an Exchange 203 server needed a reboot and at the same time the SQL server suffered an inconsistancy eror relating to the BES database. Now the BES server (on a separate box) will not send/recieve emails or able to browse. The management snapin opens briefly then closes followed by an error;
faulting application mmc.exe, version 5.2.3790.1830, faulting module BESManMMC.dll, version 4.0.1.13, fault address 0x000a702e.
The configuration manager sees the database and the MAPI client OK.
I have in desparation reinstalled the BES and new database. (v4.0.1). Also tried upgrade to 4.0.6 but to know avail.
Tried different machine still no luck. I have concluded that this is an escalation of problems surrounding AD, Exchange and BES!!
Anyone any ideas how to fix this problem?
