Default Pearl deleting messages?

Please Login to Remove!

Hello!
My nice new shiny pearl only seems to keep about 5 days worth of messages... has anyone else found this? I'm finding this really frustrating as I have actually found all the settings for things like message validity and "keep messages for.." etc, and have set them for the maximum time.
If you have ANY suggestions, I'd be most grateful!
Hope you all have had a great Christmas

Cheers
Peter

Default ideas

1. how many emails do you get a day? any really large sized ones? The phone only has about 19mb of device memory left out of the box.
2. Always delete any unneeded emails that you don't need to keep. Also delete your sent emails if you don't need them.

3. download and reload the OS....that way you can take out the extra language pack support....free up somemore space.

thanks for that -
I'm using a Mac - I am definitely being very slow, but I can't find it.. the only thing I can see is the Blackberry Desktop Manager, and that seems only to be for Windows.........

Thanks for your help!

It has nothing to do with software updates...if anything, it could make it worse if it takes up more space.

Best thing to do is run App Loader and uncheck the boxes for all the applications you don't ever use (Help, Brickbreaker, etc) to free up space.

Go into your Browser Options and Cache Operations and clear your cache. Get a MicroSD card and store your pictures on that.

Basically you have too much junk on your device and by default, your Blackberry will delete your call logs and messages first to save space for everything else.

Default basically

since you are on a Mac....Desktop Manager doesn't work as you saw.....so if you have a friend w/ a PC....see if they will let you borrow it long enough to download/install the OS on the computer along w/ Desktop Manager....and run App. Loader so you can uncheck those boxes described in a previous post.

Why not just delete unwanted apps using Advanced Options - Applications? There's no need for Desktop Manager on a PC, Mac or anything to delete apps from the device.

FYI it would be a long and repeating process....BB will want to restart after each deletion

Just say no to resetting until you delete the final app, then let it reset.

Wirelessly posted (Opera/8.01 (J2ME/MIDP; Opera Mini/3.0.6306/1558; en; U; ssr))

I have been having this problem myself.

I'm wondering if space has anything to do with this as I have plenty available?

What about the email address auto reconciling? If the reconciliation is set to "mailbox wins" wouldn't that auto delete messages on the handheld even if "keep messages" was set to max?

Having a microSD card doesn't do anything for your system memory. Emails and programs are stored on the internal memory, not the microSD card. If your internal memory gets filled with messages and programs, it will start deleting older call logs and messages automatically.

I just started seeing this problem as well. I can't imagine it's free space - at least without SOME type of warning or at least some type of notification. I've had the thing for less than a week and have a 2gb card in there (for pictures and such)

Nobody anywhere has had any luck reporting this? What would be the best path to pursue resolution .. bb tsupport or through cingular?

i did delete the apps in the end - was pretty pain free (i kept brickbraker though... bloody love that game!!)

i'm changing the mailbox reconciliation thing to Handheld Wins - see if that makes a difference...... what should it do? I'm not quite sure I understand what that function does!!
