Default Battery life

What kind of battery life can I expect from this phone? I am considering getting the Pearl, and I will be coming from a Motorola V3, so I used to being able to talk for quite a few hours, and charge infrequently, but I realize that will probably not happen here.

So how long would the battery actually last if it was on standby until the phone turned off? How long does the battery last if you were to talk from a full battery to an empty one?

good luck on getting an answer on that. You will have to go off the spec on the sheet of the phone. However the battery life has been noticed to change from the different releases of OS. there seams to be a great increase in battery life with the newest OS release however good luck trying to pin exact life usage out of it. there are way to many applications that can effect the battery life, bluetooth, mp3, and what not. some of these other aftermarket softwares wear on the battery too. good luck!

Wirelessly posted (BlackBerry8100/4.2.0 Profile/MIDP-2.0 Configuration/CLDC-1.1 VendorID/107)

Battery life for me has been the best I've seen with any phone. The spec sheet does not lie

Interesting comment, and one I disagree with. It is pretty easy to set up. My gf has a PEarl and gets her e-mail (business and personal) pushed, which is a huge convenience. She even surfs, uses maps, and a few other things quite easily. And she's not particularly computer savvy. The Pearl is very handy as a communications device, plus it is small enough to please a woman. [You know what I mean!] (Unlike the bricklike Treo.)

I disagree with the "computer savvy" comment as well - the battery life has been pretty good for me - better than I expected.

What are you talking about? This phone gets great battery usage especially if you do an OS update. It might not last as long as a cheap, featureless phone....but it does a pretty good job to me. Just keep it charged overnight as a habit and you won't have to worry about the battery dying out. And you don't have to be computer savvy to enjoy this phone.

Interesting comment made about the 8100. This is the first BB that was made for the consumer market as in not only for business use the ease and simple design make one of the easiest "smart phones" out to date.
About the battery ... Its depends on how much you use it period if your a heavy user which most are at first about 7-9 hours it will last if you don't use it that much it can last up 3 days with out a charge..
