Use those instructions on that page, but go to this page and find a carrier with the newest OS for the 7230.

You can use *any* 7230 software - the carrier is immaterial since all of the development is done by RIM. Choose the newest/latest software.

No, you need to have Desktop Manager, and the newest OS.

No -- I mean, you need the desktop software but what you really need is called handheld software, I think, for the 7230. I can't see how you would need to update the OS to unlock the device (I've never upgraded any of a large number that I've unlocked -- they're entirely unrelated processes) but that will get you going on the road to updating the handheld OS.

I went onto a site and payed £15, then they sent me some software and 1 unlocking credit, the instructions say if your software on your BB is v3.0... then you will need to upgrade to v4.0... before the software will work.
Does anyone know where I can download this software from and how to install it.

I sent you the links and the directions are on those pages. Read through them and pick a carrier that has the newest software and download it. Load that software, delete the vendor.xml file, follow all other instructions and you should be good to go. When all else fails, read the threads.

You can pick any carrier that has the 7230. Are you talking about Bharti when you say BT?

Gotcha.. Were you able to find a OS for the 7230, or do you still need help?

You can get the latest handheld software for your 7230 from Blackberry.com: Livelink - Redirection

Didn't see any software links there, however, I may just be blind and not seeing it. All I saw was documents to download.
My link above will get you to carrier sites.

That is incorrect...the carrier customize their handheld software for there specs..RIM creates the core OS, but there are customizations that the carriers implement onto the OS that will be different to other carriers.
Why do you think that RIM does not have the carrier handheld software on their web site to download, but only the DTM. TMO handheld software for TMO BlackBerry, Nextel for Nextel, etc...

Have you tried a different SIM card in the BlackBerry?
