Will the new 8800 have a normal hip case? which I do love.. or will we be forced to find another method to stow it.

thoughts or does someone already know?

not worth discussing until we know what it looks like and how we will use it, is it?

We know what the phone looks like....I have a feeling it won't ship with a case.

None of the newer Blackberrys ship with a case. Not even a plastic belt clip!

I would hope that they would at least ship it with a plastic belt clip, like the 8700c. Putting that brand new baby in my pocket....well...I'd rather not! It would start getting scratched up quickly.

Pocket lint will also mess with the ball and if you are really unlucky will result in dust behind the screen.

I always hated the plastic belt clip as it took so much effort to get it out. I prefer the leather slip in belt case with a good locking swivel clip!

I HATE cases that stay on the device while you are using the phone.

As did every 87XX series phone. Not the point. The newer "trackball" models come with no case.

Can't guarantee that this one won't, but I doubt it.

Guess we'll find out. I can't see the Indigo being the "corporate" model if it doesn't ship with a holster but who knows?

That would stink if they shipped it without anything and then took as long as they did with the 8700c to officially release an OEM case.

Cool Cases

I hope someone makes a case like the ones for the Treo. It is surrounded with a nice padded leather shell, and the screen and keys are uncovered. The cases come in various colors, could be personalized with your name, and they have a belt clip that locks. The name of the company is Vaja and they are known for making beautiful cases. One for the 8800/8900/9xxx would be great. I cannot post the url because I am a newbie, but google Vaja and see what they have to offer. I am sure they have something fit for a king or Blackberry in this case.

In fact, they do make cases for existing Blackberry models. If anyone cares to look, once on the Vaja page go to smart phones and click the appropriate phone makers tab.

Vaja has by far the best-looking cases I have seen for Blackberry and many other phones and devices. They start around $65.00 for the cheapest and escalate to around $300 for more customized cases to fit your individual needs. Maybe I am telling you guys what you already know, but if not, then this is the way to go. I am sure they will produce a model for the upcoming Blackberry phones as they become more available.

Sorry the 8700c is not one of the newer Blackberrys. The 8700c has been around for a while. Mine came with this harrible plastic clip, too. I had to grip the device so hard to be able to pull it out of this holster it went flying across the room. These are also know to damage the finish on the devices.

I tried to teach my platic clip to fly, outside of my car window, on the expressway! It does not learn well! <vbg>

Well, if we're gonna limit the discussion to quasi-Berry's, why didn't you just say so?

I seriously doubt that RIM will go to the expense of a specialized holster for Berry's that are more consumer-centric. Because this same demographic is pimpin' all their gear, it would be a waste as well as an additional cost passed on to the consumer.

I dare say that RIM will have a case for the new Blackberrys, jsut as they have in the past. RIM makes money on these cases and some prefer the OEM instead of the 3rd party "pimped" cases.

Just casue they don't include one in the box does not mean that RIM will not have one for sale 2 months after the 8800 is delivered! <vbg>
