Default Opera mini with T-mobile Pearl

Please Login to Remove!

I've been trying for a while now, can't get it to work...

Input the APN as wap.voicestream.com left ther username and password blank in TCP

Tried resetting the phone and not resetting the phone at this point

Installed Opera Mini 3.0

Loads up and asks me to do the test where you press buttons or the track ball, comes up on the tests, asks twice to allow or not allow because Opera is requesting low level access.

I say yes twice and then it comes up with this error message:

"Failed to connect to the internet. Go to operamini.com/help with your desktop browser or contact your service provider for Internet settings."

Anyone have a clue?

Thanks,
MS

In Opera go to menu > tools > settings. Then change the Network protocol to Socket and then click 'Network Setup...' again. If the Network protocol is on Socket, then change it to HTML.

Network setup

Different ways of connecting to the internet will now be attempted.

Press OK to start the setup.

I hit OK and it says Performing 1/2 Tests then 2/2 Tests and gives me that Failed to connect to the internet.

really basic, but I ran into this: make sure there are no blank spaces in your APN. I had a space after and it wouldn't let me do a thing. took a long time to figure that one out.

Did you download it over the air, or did you download it to your PC and then installed it using Desktop Manager? I've noticed that a lot of times it doesn't work if you download it over the air.

that's funny, I've only ever gotten it OTA.

another thing to realize (again, very basic) the soft keys are the Q(menu) and P(back). pushing the pearl on the first page doesn't take me anywhere, no menu, no nothing. the enter key gets me into the www. box

different key strokes to get used to but an awesome browser over all. keep at it.

Try uninstalling it and then reinstall it through Destop Manager.

are you on a service at work? I'm not, just BIS
BES Enterprise service/server? I'm really getting into things I have a very limited grasp of. sorry. I've read that some BESs don't allow internet access to certain things - usually downloads, which, since you got opera OTA could tell me that isn't the problem.

see what I mean - I know not of which I speak.

I shall shut up now and wait for smarter minds than me to help you.

have you tried re-installing it yet?

what kind of signal strength are you getting while setting it up, make sure you have decent signal strength. I would also test out the regular BB Browser, to make sure it's working properly, if not there might be a temporary problem in your area.

Good luck. I installed mine few times, just upgraded to the latest one, OTA, everything is fine. TCP is set to wap.voicestream.com, Os .71
