Default Can't hear from sound from ear speaker.

Please Login to Remove!

When I make a call I can't hear the ring or the other person's voice. When I switch to speaker phone I can hear it.

I hope the ear speaker has not gone bad on my 2 month old pearl!

Will do some more testing and update.

Note: It was working fine untill now.

There have been a couple threads about people losing sound in the ear piece. I would say, call and get a replacement.

This has been an issue with some other users. Some have performed a battery pull and got functionality back, and others have had to do a warranty exchange. Do a search on the 8100 forum for bad speaker and you should find some other threads about this.

Battery pull didn't work.

I would not like to go the replacement path. This was a replacement phone for bad camera. I haven't got the refund yet from TMO (for 2 months now).

Well if the battery pull did not work, that may be your only option if you want a working speaker again.

You can try wiping the phone and reinstalling the OS.

I had a similar issue, but my problem was that the UP VOLUME button was malfunctioning. I could turn volume down, but then not back up. I had to send it in for a replacement, new 8100 works great.

I think the spearker not working seems like a hardware problem and not a software problem. I think the replacement path is the way to go.

Backup your data, everything, then do a reinstall.

Also, just a shot, insert a headphone into the port on the Pearl and remove it, do that a few times. Sometimes the innards [circuitry] in there gets goofy. Worth a shot as that worked on mine one time.

How odd, I have just the opposite problem. It was a great way to find out too, my alarm (BB) didn't wake me up...and when I did get up, it turns out the speakerphone speaker on the BB is dead...so no ring tones, no message notifications and no speakerphone. I am assuming this is a hardware issue, pretty disappointing for a BB that is only a little over 2-months old. My last BB lasted 2 years and took a ton of abuse, this one has been babied and had a major hardware failure.

I guess I will try the warranty option first, otherwise its Tmobile's equipment protection.

Updated:
I just got the plantronics bluetooth headset (655). Atleast with the headset it doesn't bother me a lot that the ear speaker is not working. I will think about warranty later.
