Default Newbie Help with BES and Groupwise

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all,

I am brand new to setting up BES and am running into a problem with it connecting to our Groupwise Server. Here is the log output:

54001] (02/09 18:04:57):{0x21BC} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Starting GWSOAPConnector
[34192] (02/09 18:04:58):{0x21BC} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Database Edition=PERSONAL_MSDE

[14047] (02/09 18:05:00):{0x21BC} {GWSC} {admin} Login Failed: Err=POA returned blank userid, Version=7.0.1 , Build=553

[54002] (02/09 18:05:00):{0x21BC} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Terminating GWSOAPConnector

My question is do I have the admin username incorrectly typed in the configuration? I have just "admin" as the username.

My Groupwise setup is 7.01 with IR1.
BES is on a Windows 2003 Server with SP1.

Thanks in advance for your time.

Another question - if I can't get the SOAP connection to work can I use the API connection even though it says "Groupwise 6.5" next to it?

The "admin" user does not have to be (and probably should not be) the NetWare admin user.

Create a new user with a GW mailbox to use as the admin user.

The user can be an external entity - it doesn't have to have an eDirectory account. Just a GroupWise mailbox.

Login to this account with the GroupWise client once in order to create the address book.

You can set the visibility of this user to none to remove it from the GroupWise Address Book.

Here's your bug:

[34157] (02/09 18:04:58):{0x21BC} {GWSC} {GWSOAPConnector} Novell GroupWiseObject Library: C:\Novell\GroupWise\\gwcma1.dll, Version: 7.0.1

Downgrade that to 6.5.7 release nov 6/2006 (TID2974707)

Thanks for the replies.

I hope This isn't a dense question but can I just replace the file "gwcma1.dll" with the 6.5.7 version or do I need to fully install the 6.5.7 GroupWise client?

If it's just a single DLL, you can probably replace it and re-register it from the command line.

Tried replacing that .dll and got the same messages as before but with 6.5.7 for the version not 7.01. Should I replace the whole 7.01 client?
