Default Jibi-Jabber: RIMs Related Costs and Changes Needed

Please Login to Remove!

With the imminent release of the BlackBerry 8800, it would seem this next week will be one of the most anticipated in Research In Motions history. On the cusp of something special looming just around the corner, Im sure shareholders could not be more giddy at this point. Record stock earnings should follow closely behind this weeks release. Oh, to be part of Waterloo these days, right?

jibi makes a good point I think. The company I work took one look at the costs and said "why would we want to do BES when we can basically bolt on ActiveSync for far far less". Frankly I think it the argument about which OS is "better" ends up being lost on the finance guys: you'd have to demonstrate a huge quantifiable productivity drain in order to justify the massive expense. I'm not a big fan of MSFT, but one would have to believe they are going to come up the curve fairly quickly and it seems only logical that RIM will need to do something to fend off the challenge.

My $0.02, nothing more.
