Default No map on BB Maps 8800

Please Login to Remove!

I have the GPS functioning and have used the guide on installing the BB Maps program on my 8800, but when I launch BB Maps all I see are grids and lines - no map. What am I missing? I verfied the GPS is working, but when I open the BB Maps program I don't see a map. UGH!

Thanks!

In BBMaps Options, do you have it set to "Internal GPS" and what version are you using? 1.1.27?

yes and yes -

One thing I didn't do is download and install the desktop service pack - I used the 8800 CD only - i thought that this was okay because the service pack makes the desktop 4.2.1 and with the cd install i have 4.2.1. Does the desktop update load files that I don't have?

Thanks!

I wouldn't think updating the desktop manager would make a difference.

Presumably you did select "start gps" from the menu? Also, you're in the US, Canada or UK?

US - I did verify the GPS works - in Options it gives me a location.
I see on BB Maps the # of satellites as well. It just has no map - just lines.

Thanks!

Okay, now I'm just guessing. It feels like you don't have a connection to the data provider to download the maps. I wonder if an uninstall, reboot and reinstall would help? Perhaps there are some permissions, or a firewall setting that didn't get set properly.

Also, if you have Telenav installed, you should also uninstall it. I found that I had to install and configure BBMaps first and then install Telenav.

There was never an "install" tho - I just did the .alx file change per the other posts. I did install it thru desktop tho. Not sure the differences there.

I do not have telenav.

Thanks

That's fine. Just go to options: advanced options: applications and click (menu) while BBMaps is highlighted. Delete will be an option.

I don't get it. I found the TCP setting and changed them to the wap.cingular.com but you need a APN password that I don't know where it is. Thanks.
