Hi...curious does anyone prefer 8703e to newer 8800?....I am thinking of getting Verizon 8703e..I have an 8700g on t mobile for work email and like it...but wonder if I should wait for 8800 series on verizon...I really like trackwheel and the size of the 8703e...8800 seems longer, thinner yes, but longer (taller) I just dont want to feel like I am getting outdated tech....also, how do you feel about lack of voice dial on 8703e...does ability to speed dial with qwerty keyboard make up for it???

I've had both and I feel like it's a close call with the 8800 eeking out ahead of the 8700. The size, shape, and feature set of the 8800 is far superior, but I miss the jog wheel and even after about a month of using the track ball I'm still not happy with it - just used to it.

Then again I love having a MP3 player along with my email and phone. If it had a camera it would be a hands down winner!

there is a thread in the 8800 forums discussing this very topic. there ae several who went back to the 8700 because they couldn't adapt or didn't like the keyboard. go check it out

If there aren't any features in the 8800 that you feel you'd be missing then don't worry about it. I guess I just don't understand that worry. If I didn't want MP3 playback and GPS I would have stuck with my 8700c.

Though the Desktop View in the Browser, Mass Storage Mode, and VAD are also pluses in my book...

I'd also like a camera so I'm switching to the 83XX when it's out.

I too miss having a camera to take shots of my kids, I am no longer eligible for an upgrade thru the multiple exchanges off of Windows Mobile with VZW, but if the upcomign BB for VZW is worth it, I am willing to pay retail for it. Of course, pending on how much VZW cripples the phone.

The main thing you get with the 8800 is the multimedia capabilities. I have my 8703 and I'm more than happy with it. The 8800 is really a full QWERTY keyboard version of the Pearl. Personally, I like the 8703 because the keyboard seems roomier and it feels solid (well, as solid as RIM products can be these days).

Something you may want to wait for is the 8300. It may have a more comfortable design although you can find more info about it in one of these forums here.

I like the keyboard on the 8700 a bit better, so that is why I went back to it. Didn't really need the multimedia stuff. this is a business tool, not a playtoy.

I would gladly give up the multimedia candy (except a camera, as I see it as a tool) to have the trackwheel on the 8xxx series.
