Default AT&T Wireless' 90 Curve Exclusive Rights

Please Login to Remove!

Hi All,

Well I see the BlackBerry Curve listed on AT&T's wireless site. Jealous am I. Even though they have the 90 day exclusive rights to the 8300 model, can T-Mobile still release the 8320 model (which I believe is the model with WiFi access)? Or is it a case where AT&T has the exclusive rights to all 83xx devices for 90 days?

It is doubtful you will see any variant of the 83xx series from another provider within 90 days. At&t pays big money to guarantee exclusivity from RIM so they wouldn't let "Oh, well, 'technically' it's not the same device because this one has WiFi" fly.

Thanks for the update. Oh well, at least my 8700g is doing me well. If I really, REEEAALY want one I will get an unlocked one. But my 8700g should suffice.

It's just AT&T...period. There is no qualifier after the brand. The company doesn't use regulatory names for marketing purposes.

Yes they do. I work for at&t Mobility. But thanks for chiming in with wrong information.

AT&T only has exclusivity over the 8300 device not the entire series. T-Mobile could release the 8320 tomorrow, if they/RIM decided to do so. The carrier exclusivity agreements with the 8300 and 8800 series only cover the individual devices.

Exactly. All of at&t's consumer facing information refer to the Curve (8300), but T-mo's device is the Crimson (8320).
