Default Opera Mini on 8300?

Please Login to Remove!

Is anybody here using OperaMini on their 8300 with success? When I go to the website via my Blackberry browser...it says that my device was not recognized. What's up with that?

Also...should I use the high memory or low memory version? I am not running a memory card.

-Thanks

I am running the high version of Opera Mini on my Cingular (Now the new at&t) Curve. From the Curve, I went to http://www.operamini.com and it went right to it.

Thanks guys...just installed High Memory version with no problem. I had been leery since Opera Mini did not play nice with my Treo 680 at all...and I didn't want to freak my 8300 out just when everything was so good!!

BTW...can ya'll tell me if you think the web browsing/page viewing experience is any better with OM than with the standard BB browser? What advantages do you see with Opera Mini so far? Disadvantages?

I just loaded it on my Curve and I don't know that I see any advantages over the BB Browser, maybe if you are a MySpace user? I will have to work with it some more but I am finding it clumsy. I have tried OM on some other phones and always went back to the standard browsers, OM is nothing special to me.

opera can load many sites the bb browser cannot. specifically those with SSL and javascript logins. (although for some reason my BB browser can load some SSL pages)

Same here. Seems like it is a bit faster than the BB browser to me...and some pages that the BB browser couldn't or wouldn't open, are now no problem.

I have to admit, that the browser on the BB is the only area that the Palm Treo clearly kills it in. My Treo's Blazer browser always opened everything...without having to resort to an accessory browser app. Sad, but true...

Have tried the MediaNet browser for those sites that the BB browser won't open? Also, if you're running MDS services through BES, you'll have one called "Internet browser" which also seems to open the other sites and very fast.

I just installed OperaMini so I can try as well...

The new opera mini for some reason is not friendly to myspace you can get on the site but cant reply to a message... if you hit reply button it will just delete the message altogether! Also if you hit accept for a friend request it will delete your whole page of friend requests!

its funny you mention that, I had the same problem! I couldn't understand why I wasn't able to reply to the message and then I got on the computer and noticed that my current messages weren't there, but were in the trash on myspace!

I swore by Opera Mini on my Pearl. The browser on my Curve is way better than the internet browser on the Pearl, so much so that I haven't even thought about Opera Mini. This might have something to do with the Curve's OS. I am hopeful the Dimension will come out some time this century so I can try that out.

I loaded the Hi mem version the other day and I can get on the first page of a site but then it freezes on processing when I click on a link. For example on google I click on my account link and then it freezes on me. Any one have a clue why it would be doing this?

I tried to click on the download link for GoogleTalk...and it freezes every time, then goes into the scary hourglass-forever syndrome...until I do a soft-reset by removing and replacing the battery. Then after what seems like forever again...everything reboots. Might be normal...but it totally freaks me out!!

BTW...since I hve some folks on here with Opera Mini. How in the heck do I delete "previous addresses" either all at once or one by one? Frankly, my girlfriend's little brother surfed some explicit websites on my phone the other night when I forgot my phone at the house...and I want to erase the web addresses. I would appreciate a clue as to the "fix" for this...

I can't seem to get Opera Mini to work properly on my unlocked Curve on t-mobile. It goes through the testing phase after you start it and says there's no network connection (?) Everything else works fine on my Curve for internet.
