Default Password Disable

Please Login to Remove!

Hi all. First time poster. I thought I'd share some info today.

I wanted to disable my password, but couldn't figure it out. I came on this forum hoping to get an answer, but all I got was "contact your IT".

Well, about 10 minutes ago, I discovered how to do it, purely by accident (at least on mine (BES)).

Go to the following: settings>options>security options>general settings.

Put the cursor over the enable selection. If you push on the wheel, "Disable" does not appear.

However, if you push the "alt" button, it does.

I hope this helps someone.

Also, I think if you press the Space bar it will toggle between the selections automatically.

99% of the time when someone comes here asking how to disable the password it's because their IT department sent a policy to the device REQUIRING that the user have a password on the device.

If you highlight the "Enable" and click the wheel you probably need to select "change option" in order to see the "Disable" option. Clicking "alt" will show the menu as well. Also, as described above you can hit the space bar or even the first letter of the other options, i.e. if it's set on Disable and you want Enable, simply hit the E key. This works in most of the BB menus.

Hope this helps.

If you are on BES, I assume the password is there for a reason. If I were you, I'd learn to live with it.

Nope. Not yet. It's been several days, and it hasn't reappeared.

The password wasn't there to begin with. I set it myself. Then later, it wasn't allowing me the option to disable it, until I found out the trick I posted.

If folks need to keep the password, then I agree, it should stay. However, a lot of people were in the same boat as me...they set it themselves, then couldn't turn it off.
